Cranium Search Preview
Opening Premium Content to Search Engines
Andrew Madden of Google gave a speech to the Specialized Information Publisher Association (SIPA) on June 1, 2009. During this speech he made the following suggestions to providers of premium web contents:
• Allow Google to Index your premium content
• When a user comes to your site from Google, display a preview
• Have a compelling call to action on the preview page
Cranium Search Preview enables this model for premium web publishers.
• All major search engines are allowed access to index premium content
• Search result pages display the article meta description, if available
• Visitors are given a preview with an appropriate offer
The web site owner determines the amount of content to be displayed in the article. The preview could display 5, 10 or 15 percent of the total words in the article. The reader is also given the date of the article.
Cranium Softworks has recently deployed this model with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for Bradford Tax Institute's Tax Reduction Letter. Click the link below conducts a Google search. Bradford Tax Institute appears as the first search result. Clicking on the result gives a "Search Preview" and a call to action. In Bradford's case the call to action is to sign up for a trial subscription. Try it for yourself
